With Honor

Honor is mea­sured against two stan­dards – per­sonal and soci­etal. In each case what is being mea­sured is how well an indi­vid­ual com­pares to that stan­dard of behav­ior. In the con­text of Cas­tle Pen­tor­toise the first is of course what a char­ac­ter expects of his or her­self and the sec­ond what soci­ety expects of that char­ac­ter.
